Want to practice your detective skills and see if you have what it takes to be a super sleuth like Sherlock Homes? Check out Escape Hunt in Makati, the “ultimate live escape game” where players get one hour to play the part of famous London detectives and figure out classic murder mysteries.

Escape Hunt Manila launched in Manila last February 2015 and is one of the newest escape room games in the Philippines. As part of a global franchise with branches all over the world, their interactive game design follows international standards.

As a bonus, Escape Hunt has a lounge with refreshments and free WiFi, where customers can hang out in before and after games. They also have special high-quality souvenir merchandise for sale and themed costumes and props that you can use to take souvenir photos.

ROOMS:

Escape Hunt currently offers three different scenarios with two parallel rooms each, allowing groups to compete head to head in the same scenario. These are the three scenarios you can try out.

Jewel Heist at the Resort: You are a famous London detective. Priceless jewels have been stolen from German socialite Jacoba Von Bismarck and the police need your help to get them back. Maximum team size: 5 players or book duplicate rooms to compete with up to 10 players. Difficulty: Beginner

Trapped at the Spa: What should have been a relaxing day at the spa has taken a surprising twist. Someone has locked you in the massage room and you’ll need to figure out who and why before you can escape. Maximum team size: 5 players or book duplicate rooms to compete with up to 10 players. Difficulty: Intermediate

Murder at Home: Set in the 1970’s, this game locks you in the middle of a murder mystery. With a lot of money at stake, you’ll need to figure out who the culprit is before you can escape. Maximum team size: 5 players or book duplicate rooms to compete with up to 10 players. Difficulty: Hard

WHY YOU SHOULD TRY IT:

Of the different escape rooms I’ve tried, Escape Hunt’s rooms are more intellectual, challenging and educational. While other escape room games in the Philippines usually have a horror element, the rooms in Escape Hunt seem more family-friendly and wholesome, making it a good choice for families who want to teach kids logic and deduction skills. In fact, when my cousins and I went to play, there was a kid’s birthday party going on in the lounge, and all of the birthday’s celebrant’s guests got to try the rooms. Lucky kid and cool party!

For some reason, my cousins, sister and I decided to try out the most difficult room and failed to get out (we were really close though!). It was really fun, frustrating, and strangely addicting. I really hope to try the other rooms just to get that feeling of satisfaction of getting out.

Escape Hunt offers a good, alternative weekend bonding activity for families, friends, relatives and colleagues who want to try something new. It’s also great for team-building sessions, special occasion parties and corporate events.
