Ten Cents to Heaven Resort in Tanay, Rizal

Ten Cents to Heaven Resort is the kind of place you’d go to just to meditate amidst nature. With its cool climate, manicured gardens in front of a sea of hills, stairways lined with pine like trees and wooden cabanas shrouded in vines, this resort and leisure camp in Tanay, Rizal offers a serene respite from city life. Best of all, it’s not that far from the metro.

LOCATION:

The resort is located along the Marilaque highway in Tanay, Rizal, which is my favorite getaway for weekend road trips. I first spotted the place during a random solo ride in 2014 to check out some of the new restaurants in the area suitable for road trip pit stops. Since then, this has been one of our choices for quick breakfast rides during the weekend. The sprawling 30-hectare mountain resort provides a 360-degree view of the Sierra Madre mountain ranges and Laguna de Bay. What I like most about it is it doesn’t get as crowded as some of the more popular pit stops for bikers.

Getting here is pretty easy if you have your own private transportation. Their official website claims they’re just a 45 minute drive from Ortigas. By motorcycle (passing through Marikina and Cogeo traffic), it usually takes me 1.5 to 2 hours to get here from Quezon City. The whole resort has well-maintained facilities and some extreme activities available to guests.

ACCOMMODATIONS & EVENTS VENUE:

The resort has sprawling grounds with lots of different areas where you can hang out. There are several camping decks (they can provide the camping setting and sleeping bags or you can bring your own camping materials), a recreational hall, and rows of open air view deck cabanas with wooden curtains where you can just relax during the day. If you want to stay overnight, they also have family rooms, communal dorms, full house rentals (for 40 pax), and night cabanas available.

Ten Cents to Heaven is mainly a venue for special events like weddings, birthdays, family reunions, parties or retreats. They have a large recreational hall / function room for indoor events and a courtyard garden for outdoor events. The place even has its own pavilion and chapel.

The scenic view, all the rustic wooden details, and fresh flowers in bloom make the place an ideal spot for pre-nuptial pictorial sessions. There are very nice landscaped walkways in the outdoor gardens, while the pavilion and private deluxe room offer nice spots for photos.

SWIMMING POOLS & FISH SPA:

In front of the enclosed pavilion are two swimming pools, with stunning views of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Construction was still ongoing in some of the buildings during the time of my first visit, but they’ve since finished most of the work.

The swimming pools are a bit small, but they are very well maintained.

A new addition is the fish spa therapy in the ground floor outdoor deck area of the restaurant, where you can sit on benches and have doctor fish clean off the dead skin of your feet. This costs P200 for 30 minutes.

EXTREME ACTIVITIES:

Ten Cents to Heaven was mainly designed as a team-building event venue, so there are a lot of activities you can do here around the grounds.

The obstacle course includes a centipede walk, soldier crawl, bubble walk, Jordan ladder, and more.

There’s a 60-feet high wall where you can do rock climbing, rappelling and free fall.

There’s a 1.2 km long zipline (which they claim to be “the longest zipline in Luzon”). You can ride here superman style or sitting down, either one-way (with pick up on the other side) or two way. There’s a shorter junior zipline that’s more suitable for kids. Here’s a video of the actual zipline.

There’s also a cool 150-meter long hanging bridge leading back from the zipline to the obstacle course.

DINING:

If you’re not planning to stay the night, you can just stop by for a meal at the Camp Cafe Resto Bar, their in-house restaurant, which has a pretty good selection of Pinoy and International cuisine (most are good for sharing).

With their good food, great views and adventure activities, Ten Cents to Heaven is great for a weekend trip or overnight stay. The restaurant also has free WiFi (good connection), which is rare for the area.
