Most Popular Beer of Every Country in the World

Beer is the world’s most widely consumed and probably the oldest alcoholic beverage. It is the third most popular drink overall, after water and tea.

While some people collect ref magnets or keychains when they travel, it’s been a goal of mine to try beer from as many countries as possible. I decided to do some research on national beers when I came across this awesome World Beer Map from VinePair.com that shows the most popular beer brands around the world.

Just looking at the names and labels of the beer, you can see how diverse the beers are as the countries themselves. I’m not sure how complete or accurate the map is. This map collected data based on various sources, from research reports to corporate filings from over 100 countries, taking into account the market share.

There are 195 countries in the world, but some countries don’t have their own beers as alcohol is banned. In other countries, best-selling brands are disputed. But anyway, based on this map and other online sources, here are the most popular and well-known beer brands around the world.

  1. HI Kara, so glad to read about your passion for beer from all over the world. I think in the last 20 years craft beers especially have really grown substantially here in the US and across the world where, and I read this recently, that wine and alcohol are not growing as much as beer. I think the reason is that you can be very creative with beer and a person can really enjoy the vast variations that have evolved in beer making. I hope you can continue your quest to taste all the many beers in this world. I hope you can make your way to the western countries and tour them and there are so many beers here in the US and Canada that you need to try. I have also toured a few breweries that is just fascinating as you already know and when the tour is over you get free beer!

  2. Hi Mark, I agree that the craft beer scene is much more interesting, but there’s just too many to try from different countries! I thought getting a hold at least of the most popular beers per country would be more doable 🙂 But I hope to do more brewery tours when I travel. Cheers!

  3. I like beer and beverages, and tusker can gain good feedback and reviews, especially here in Kenya, so I might try to buy this product. As you said in your post, beer is the world’s most popular and most likely oldest alcoholic beverage. After water and tea, it is the third most popular drink overall.
