Tagaytay City in Cavite is the most popular destination near the metro for a day trip. However, with the traffic and high cost of gas and toll fees, sometime’s it’s best to make the most of a road trip by staying overnight somewhere. This way, you can visit the more sights at a leisurely pace.

LOCATION:

Located inside the Eagle Ridge Golf & Residential Estates in Gen. Trias, Cavite, Microtel Eagle Ridge is a good option for business and leisure travelers who want all the modern conveniences in a refreshing environment. The hotel is about 1.5 – 2 hours drive from Manila, yet has access to a full range of recreational activities including 4 championship golf courses and a beach-like resort. Historical points of interest nearby include the GBR Museum, Gen. Trias Monument and Park, Museo De La Salle, St. Francis of Assisi Parish and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The hotel is also relatively close to Tagaytay City, which makes it convenient for families looking for a weekend staycation near the metro.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Microtel Eagle Ridge offers 57 comfortable guestrooms, which are either Suites, Single Rooms or Double Rooms. All the rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with Queen-sized beds with chiropractor-approved mattresses, which always ensures a good sleep. Like the rest of the hotel, the rooms have a very minimalist vibe. However, they are clean, comfortable and equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay including TV with cable channels, radio clock and private bath with hot and cold shower. The room we got was a two-queen bed suite, which had a divider / bar in the middle of the room that served as a little kitchenette, complete with a microwave, water heater for coffee and sink. There were also standard toiletries like soap, shampoo and toothbrushes in the bathrooms.

HOTEL AMENITIES:

Primarily a business hotel, Microtel Eagle Ridge offers services you’ll need for functions or business events, including a 24-hour vending area, photocopying, faxing, and mailing services.

Since I was there mainly for leisure and not business, one thing I really appreciated about the hotel is that they offered bikes for rent. I was able to do an early morning ride around the property before heading out to visit some other sights in Tagaytay. It was refreshing to bike along the paved trails for golf carts. Not a lot of cars pass through the property and the area is very safe and secure for biking even for children.

EAGLE RIDGE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB:

The main advantage of the hotel is its strategic location to all the amenities offered by the Eagle Ridge Golf & Country Club, which has several sports and leisure facilities, including four championship golf courses, a gym, basketball courts, a driving range, a billiard hall, bowling alley and a swimming pool resort and mini water-park with sand simulating the beach.

DINING:

Guests can enjoy complimentary buffet breakfast of Pinoy favorites, everyday in the lobby. They can also avail of free-flowing coffee here any time of the day. Right beside the hotel is Guiyomi Restaurant, which serves a variety of oriental and international cuisine specializing in Korean fare like samgyeopsal, chapchae and kmichi.

The Eagle Ridge Country Club also has several clubhouses each with their own in-house restaurant specializing in different cuisine. The Aoki Clubhouse serves Japanese fare like Ebi Tempura and Katsu Curry, while the main clubhouse has Pinoy favorites like bulalo, adobo and crispy pata.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHECK IN:

Overall, our stay in Microtel Eagle Ridge was very relaxing. It’s a good option for business and leisure travelers, especially for golfers. Its modern amenities make it a good option for business functions and company events, while the leisure/sports facilities are great for some R & R on the side. For families/friends who to want to visit Tagaytay City, Microtel is a relaxing staycation option near enough the sights yet far from the more crowded main hub.

HOW TO GET TO MICROTEL EAGLE RIDGE

Cavite is approximately 2 hours from Manila by car or bus. From the South Superhighway, take the Carmona exit through Governor’s Drive. Turn left at Amadeo Road and you’ll find Microtel by Wyndham General Trias on the right side, about 1 km after Gateway Business Park.
