It’s hard for me to find proper riding gear that fits properly. Aside from the fact that most motorcycle gear is designed for guys, I’m not that tall. Even if I find something I like, it usually doesn’t fit me. Riding jackets and gloves are usually oversized. Shoes are always too big. It’s a pain to even look at helmets because while there are so many cool designs out there, most brands only carry these in M to XL, men’s sizes. Motorcycling is still a male-dominated field in the Philippines. But thankfully, brands are starting to notice and manufacture gear specifically catering to the growing market of female riders.
IXON is a French Brand established in 1996 that is known worldwide for its high-quality and stylish jackets and riding suits used by MotoGP riders. IXON produces a wide range of motorcycle gear for different styles, namely: racing, roadster, adventure, urban, heritage and denim.
As the leader in France, this brand is distributed in 70 countries including the Philippines. The problem usually with international brands is that gear usually comes only in US or UK sizes designed for taller and heftier riders. IXON recently released riding gear in “Asian-fit” sizes in the Philippines, designed for shorter riders with smaller physiques. The gear also takes into consideration the tropical climate and weather in many Asian countries like the Philippines.
Thanks to their official dealer Motoworld Philippines, I finally got a proper riding jacket and riding shoes. Motoworld officially carries brands at reasonable prices for Philippine motorcyclists. They’re the authorized dealer of world-class high-quality motorcycle accessories, riding gear and apparel including helmets, safety apparel, accessories, performance parts, and other products.
Though IXON has a lot more options for guys in terms of variety and design, it’s great to find items specifically for female riders and OBRs (official back riders), who really deserve the same amount of safety, protection and comfort while on the road.
IXON Cool Air Ladies Jacket
The IXON Cool Air Ladies Jacket combines safety, comfort, and style. Featuring CE protectors at shoulders and elbows, 3M reflective inserts at the back, moisture-wicking mesh lining, waterproof wallet pocket, and flat mesh ventilation panels at front, back, and sleeves – all in a distinct design, this is designed as your basic go-to jacket for road trips and adventures.
The jacket comes in two colors: Black with pink/Fuchsia trim and Black with grey trim. I’m just glad to have designs that aren’t overwhelmingly pink and white. The design is very basic and sporty with panels that help give a curvy and more flattering silhouette. The circumference of some areas like the wrist and upper arms are adjustable via push buttons. Though it’s bulkier than the regular jackets I usually wear during rides, I appreciate the built-in armor and definitely feel more protected during rides. The jacket has reflective inserts on the back, so riders remain more visible on the road at night.
If you’ve ever driven in the Philippines at the height of noon during summer months, you know how ridiculously hot it can get to be wearing leather jackets or full riding suits. Local riders often dress very casually in t-shirts or use light, long-sleeved shirts or removable arm sleeves for city driving, where you can’t really go full-speed anyway because of the traffic. But for touring and long rides, I know safety gear with built-in armor is really important, so I’m glad to have this jacket and will probably use it more on future trips.
While I found the jacket a bit hot in city traffic and standstills, it offers great ventilation when you’re actually moving. The numerous mesh panels at the front, back and sleeves make the jacket feel very breathable. I feel like my back and arms are being cooled when driving at mid to high speeds. The jacket comes with a waterproof and breathable membrane and special coating for abrasion resistance. You can also buckle it securely into matching riding pants (sold separately).
This jacket has 2 outer pockets and 2 inner pockets. One thing I really appreciated was the waterproof inside chest pocket where I can stash my phone if it suddenly rains or for easy access and navigation since I don’t have a secure phone holder.

IXON Assault Evo Ladies Shoes
IXON’s Assault Evo Riding Shoes are stylish sneakers meant for casual, urban use. These sneakers feature an anti-skid polyurethane outsole as well as an anti-bacterial footbed. In addition, the Assault Evo is equipped with a convenient opening and closing system that allows users to adjust sneakers quickly. It’s casual enough to use with scooters, but can also be used with manual type motorcycles because of the reinforcements on gear selector, heel, and toes. The shoes also have reflective stripes on the side and back for added visibility.
The shoes are easy to take on and off with a few twists on a knob. The closing/opening system is very practical for riders because it doesn’t have shoelaces that can easily get untied during rides. The hi-cut design provides good support and padding, especially around the ankles. The rigid design secured with a velcro strap aims to prevent lateral crashes. My feet felt very protected from the road and engine heat while driving.
This particular model is ideal for city rides and mid-distance journeys. They’re not completely waterproof. The soles felt a bit smooth over uneven terrain with gravel and mud and slick surfaces like those white center lines when it’s rainy. My trips usually include some hiking, so I had to bring extra shoes when using this on rides. If you plan to do a lot of offroad riding or have to constantly pass areas with dirt roads, gravel and mud, there are other shoe models you can consider. But for urban settings and porma rides, I think these shoes are a good option.
