Antipolo is known primarily for its scenic overlooking views. Being relatively near Manila, it offers an easy weekend getaway. Lately, more people have been visiting because of artistic spaces like Pinto Art Museum and dining destinations like Crescent Moon Cafe. During a solo ride one weekend, I tried out Eggs for Breakfast, a relatively new cafe that opened about 3 months ago.
This cozy cafe is a hidden gem located inside the Velada Estate and Events Place in Villa Cecilia Subdivision, Brgy. Mambugan, Rizal. It’s in the lower Antipolo / Marikina boundary and makes a good pitstop for bikers or riders heading to Sumulong Highway. Parking is secure and there’s space to accommodate cars as well as smaller vehicles. Bikers can bring in and park their bikes in the compound.
The place feels very homey with rustic interiors and lots of cute details. You can see the gardens and plants through the wide glass windows. One wall is covered in grassy material and decorated with quirky decor and framed inspirational quotes. It’s a very cheerful, airy space that will appeal to couples and families, and girls looking for a pretty and quiet place to have heavy breakfast or brunch.

But since I was dining alone during my visit, I had to order only for one. I tried the classic Eggs Benedict, which consists of two halves of an English muffin, topped with ham, poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce. They also have a version called Eggs Benjamin topped with smoked salmon instead of ham.
The cafe also has several interesting smoothies like Triberries & Watermelon (cranberry, blueberry, strawberry + watermelon), Funky Monkey (milk, banana, chocolate, peanut butter) and Green Goodness (Green tea, kiwi, spinach, cucumber, celery).
Coffee costs P75-P110, smoothies range from P150 – P265, while main dishes cost about P300-500 per dish. A bit pricey if you’re alone, but some of the dishes are good for sharing. If you compare the cost of food here to some mall-based breakfast places, the price isn’t that bad considering the portion size, quality and ambiance of the place. Eggs for Breakfast accepts walk-ins but can accommodate bigger groups by reservation. They even have a private room good for 10-14 people clubs or big groups that want to meet over breakfast, lunch or dinner.
It’s a nice place to have a meal if you want to explore the Antipolo area. After dining here, I stopped by Hinulugang Taktak, a waterfall which used to be a popular summer get-away and the top tourist spot in Antipolo. With all the developments nearby, the waterfall is very polluted, but the Natural Park is undergoing some restoration efforts. Hopefully, they’ll be able to restore the waterfall to its former glory.
