NOTE: Updated April 2023
Typical museums in the country only appeal to history buffs and art enthusiasts. Visitors are expected to just look at artwork hanging on walls or stare at artifacts behind glass cases, learn historical facts, and that’s it. In most museums, photography isn’t even allowed, leaving visitors with no visual proof of their visit.
Art in Island is not your typical museum. It allows visitors not just to look, but to also interact with the museum pieces and become “part of the art.” With our fondness for taking photos and love for humorous pics, this place seems to have been made for Pinoys.
Klook.comI first visited this place during Microtel’s media tour around Quezon City while staying at Microtel Acropolis and found myself going back with my family a few weeks later to share the fun when it as still relatively new. When it first opened in December 2014, it used to be a traditional museum with painted 3D paintings.
Like many attractions, it temporarily shut its doors during the pandemic. On December 15, 2022 the museum reopened with a new name, Art in Island: The Media Square, and brand new digital displays.
Now considered as the largest mixed media museum in the Philippines, Art in Island: The Media Square brings art, media, and technology together through projections and audio. The immersive experience was made possible through a collaboration with renowned artists and digital experts from South Korea.
There’s also a new al fresco Korean restaurant called Jeongwon right next to the museum but the place is very near dining establishments in Cubao X. You can find other restaurants like Bellini’s, Tacio’s, Cubao X Brewery, and more nearby.
In case you’re looking for something new to do in Quezon City with friends or family (especially kids), visiting Art in Island: The Media Square could be a good option.

- To get the perfect angle, instruct your photographer to take photos on the designated stickers on the floor.
- Bring friends so you can take photos of each other. Tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed. If you’re visiting the place alone, you can hire a photographer for P300.
- Make sure your camera and phones are fully charged. The place has free WiFi, so it helps to bring a smartphone and Powerbank.
